My Story
(Carlos from TheStateofHipHop.com)

In 2002 I enrolled at the University of Connecticut as an economics major with an interest in business but with no particular profession in mind. I discovered Site Build It! almost by accident a couple of years later. As a hobby, I created this website which I have kept up, and which has slowly evolved since about 2004-2005. That was about the same time I started to find marketing and communications a lot more interesting.

I have since changed my major to Communications (with Econ minor) I live in an apartment off campus, just recently graduated from UConn and am now working full-time. The site is still growing and so are the visitors. We released our first e-book last year and have even bigger things planned for the future. The reason I'm telling you this is because the only way any of this could have been possible was through the help of a packaged course that carefully explained how to use the web to turn a fun hobby into a fun business.

This course is Site Build It! It helped show me how to make a rap website that would succeed. So what's your passion? hobby or interest? What are you curious about that you wouldn't mind gathering information on?

We all have at least one thing (probably many) that we find interesting. With many of you it may be hip-hop. I know that for me, travelling, drawing, science and technology are just a few other things I could turn into a successful website. The goal is simply to narrow your interests down, find a niche that you can fill...then provide that group of people with the exact information they need and want. It's a win-win situation. That is the goal of this site and that is the basic goal of SBI!

You will be surprised at how far that little concept reaches. This is by no means a scam of any kind, I currently run a site that I love which continues to grow, it pays for itself and I have nothing but high hopes for its future. This all can largely be attributed to Site Build It!. For those curious: The above picture is of me, circa 2004, when the site launched.
