Known mostly in the underground circuit, Cunninlynguists (composed of Deacon The Villain and Kno) are a rap duo steadily maturing into a pair of respected producers and emcees. Their name was originally chosen because it "sounded funny" and not so much for its association with the similar sounding cunnilingus (which we won't get into)
With their Southernunderground LP Cunninlynguists have raised a lot of eyebrows in the underground, as much for their stellar production as for their impressive list of guests. Cunninlynguists have collaborated with Masta Ace, Tonedeff, Cee-lo, Jurassic 5, The Beatnuts and Immortal Technique and are currently a part of QN5 Music, an independant music label.
A piece of Strange was there next full-length release dropping late 2005. The album received a lot of positive reviews from throughout the industry and created enough buzz that their MySpace page has already seen over a quarter million views.
Cunninlynguists' latest couple of albums also feature the talents of rapper Natti, which is no surprise to long time 'Lynguists' fans who are familiar with their "open door" policy when it comes to members. Though Kno and Deacon will always be a staple of the group, the addition of Natti is a welcomed one. With impressive MC skills and a flow that adds an extra "Dungeon Family" feel to the group, Natti only serves to keep the buzz alive for this marvelous group. With the late 2007 release of their Dirty Acres album Cunninlynguists have begun to show hints of a more refined sound. Entirely produced by Kno, the production rivals some of the best beatmakers in the game.
