Rap Lyrics Archive
Accurate Rap LyricsThe majority of rap lyrics you'll find online are submitted by visitors, rarely checked for accuracy, and then stolen and copied a thousand times by every other site...NOT HERE.
I know how annoying it is to find a site horribly screwing up your favorite rapper's lyrics...and it happens often.
Here at The State, since we post our own lyrics (though we also accept submissions), you can email me directly about any dispute with the hip hop lyrics featured on the site. Though I review liner notes, research official websites, and listen attentively I am only human. Sometimes in the course of large uploads the quality of some lyrics may be overlooked. I ask that you please report any innacuracies that you may find to me here so that I may quickly fix them.
Finally, since TSOHH is all about helping up-and-coming emcees to progress, this section will regularly showcase classic rap lyrics, successful rap lyrics, freestyle rap lyrics, battle rap lyrics and both popular & underground rap lyrics, with a breakdown of what makes them so appealing.
The State's rap lyrics page will by no means feature every song imaginable from every artist out...we STRICTLY emphasize quality over quantity and our doors are open to recommendations 24/7. The rappers and musicians I have chosen to showcase I consider to be standout artists either lyrically, musically, or commercially and each posess a talent that aspiring emcees can learn from.
Again, if you're a nitpicker about accurate rap lyrics like me, and have some favorites you want to see up, please write to us here and I'll be sure to get them up for you.
With that said, we present to you our latest offering...
   Jay-Z - Ain't I (w/ Timbaland)
|
| Jay-Z "Aint' I" |
"Ain't I" is a song that leaked a couple of months ago and has been rumored to be a track on the upcoming Blueprint 3 album. With Jay-Z signing a deal with Live Nation a few weeks ago this rumor has become more and more realistic. Another track that is expected to be on the album is Jay-Z's track "You're Welcome" featuring Mary J. Blige.
With that said, check out the song. Personally I think the song is pretty dope. The chorus is nice and bouncy so it has a great chance of garnering mass appeal. Jay-Z's braggadocios style is at it's peak and he truly proves that no one can boast as well as him...if that's what you like.
For the most part the feedback on this track has been positive. My favorite line is, "I got Warhols on my halls' walls!/ I got Basquiat's in the lobby of my spot!". The nigga is trying hard to be sophisticated for sure. It's working, though, and it puts him at the top of the game as we know it today...but the question remains: Is that where we want the game to reside? Check it out and decide for yourself.
[Jay-Z Intro]
Ain't I...
I'mma...I'mma...I'mma...
{Chorus}
I'mma hustler's hustler
A gangster's gangster
I'mma rapper's rapper
Your favorite, ain't I
Ain't I, Ain't I, Ain't I
I'mma hustlers hustler
A gangsters gangster
I'mma rappers rapper
Your favorite, ain't I
Ain't I, Ain't I, Ain't I
[Jay-Z]
I'm still winnin' and I'm no where near finished
It's just the first inning, and I'm gunning for the pennant
And I been this, God made me, ya'll hate me, ya'll Atheist,
Ya'll safety is at risk
It's the return of the Messiah
One and only Hov,
Nah I ain't God, but I've been made in his mold
So when the story is told let it be said I refuse to fold
I only fold bread, I stood for the best, I owe no debt
I represent the hood 'til my dying breath
I took a pay cut to become an exec
So the next motherfucka can earn his paycheck
And even though these niggas talk greasy 'bout me
Ask these niggas how they 'gon eat without me
Ask these niggas if they want stets involved
And even if they don't like me, they respect the God
{Chorus}
[Jay-Z]
I'm Hustlers poster child, I'm 'posed to style
I ain't got nothin' to prove I'm 'posed to smile
I ain't insecure, I'm 'vested in a piece of Carol's Daughter
I'm in Sephora
Bricks are insignificant to him
He's a grown man, you're an infant to him
Take your baby money and burn, T-Ha
I spent that on furniture
I got Warhols on my halls walls
I got Basquiats in the lobby of my spot
I'm so sophisticatedly hood, S.Carter cashmere premium goods
Thousand dollars for the sneaks
Timbo on the track, Two-Fifty for the beat
G4 back and forth to my floor seats
I spent a couple mil' just to lose to the Heat...
{Chorus}
[Jay-Z]
Anything you aspire, to acquire I got
Any gun you say, you fired, I shot
Any type of paraphenalia, I am the seller
I guess they're sayin' that's how I started Roc-A-Fella
Feds all fed up
DEA can't tell the dirty money from a Roc-A-Wear sweater
And I'm never ever going back, back
Oh never that, never that
And I'm never ever going back, back
Oh never that, oh never that
And I'm never ever going back, back
Oh never that, oh never that
And I'm never ever going back, back
Oh never that, oh never that
And I'm never ever going back, back
Oh never that, oh never that
And I'm never ever going back, back
Oh never that, oh never that
And I'm never ever going back, back
Oh never that, oh never that
And I'm never ever going back, back
Oh never that
Whoever rap, you be doin' that for practice nigga
I'm in a twelve step program
I ain't touched drugs in so long, I'mma sober man
I'm clean as a whistle, official got away
I'm the king of all kings, it's official, uh
{Chorus}
